This is my third and final day in Casola and we started with a trip up to see James. He’s from England and is converting a barn into a house in the village.
As we left, the “Casola Cats” were outside. There used to be four kittens, all had problems with gunge in their eyes and problems with their tails. Two have disappeared, and out of the remaining two this is the healthiest looking one.
Up at James’ place he has a Piaggio Ape (pronounced ah-peh) which are quite popular in the region for carting round building materials, wine, and indeed any items that are two heavy to cart round by hand. It has a 50cc scooter engine to power it but this one is currently off the road.
We had some coffee and headed back for breakfast but before leaving, we clocked some killer ants. I have never seen ants this size before, about three times the size of a normal ant.
The afternoon was spent watching the British Grand Prix, and the evening was taken up by a lovely four course meal at the campsite where Daisy is parked.
Tomorrow is a trip back up the E15 then into the St. Bernard tunnel and into Switzerland, destination Les Grandettes near Montreux. I shall leave you with a couple of pictures of local Casola buildings, this really is a stunning village.
